FACES

_DSC7969.jpg

charcoal and acrylic on paper      130cm diameter      2019-2020

The 43 drawings present faces of Hong Kong people captured by mass media from early June in 2019 while the Hong Kong-China extradition bill prompted extreme political polarization of society between pro-democracy and pro-Beijing groups. I drew people of both sides including protesters, bill supporters, governors and press reporters. I want to depict a feeling of unity and a sorrow emotion so that each drawing has no longer represented the actual person.
